Words of Encouragement
A new friend on Medium recently made my day when he sent me the following message. "Don't say you're "not the best writer." You're the writer you need to be right now. You're adding value to my day." -Johnzelle Anderson.
What an awesome thing to hear! And what a kind and gracious thing for someone to say. I feel ten feet tall right now because of his compliment. Johnzelle has said the most excellent thing I have ever heard about my writing. And the thing that strikes me most is that he didn't have to say anything.
How often do we pass on the chance to say something kind and constructive to someone else we don't know? That action requires a leap of confidence in oneself and a kind spirit.
Johnzelle recently started responding to my stories on Medium. He has engaged consistently, and we have made the first steps toward a friendship I hope will extend beyond Medium. I am always open to making new friends who share a love of writing and creating.
Johnzelle's words have inspired me to write even more this weekend. I hope that the enjoyment and Kindness I feel come through in my story.
How often do we offer words of encouragement to one another? You never know how those words will affect someone's day or change their outlook. It is easy to overlook the opportunity to say nice things to someone, especially someone we don't know well. But just imagine the possibilities of making new friends with just a few simple words.
