Old Movies

With all of the distractions of modern life, it is beautiful to do something almost entirely innocent and harmless. After a delicious home-cooked dinner with some wine and a nice relaxing shower, it just feels like a time to keep the outside world away for the evening.

I suggested Hal, and I  watch an old movie on the couch with some popcorn snacks. I scrolled through Verizon and all our streaming services to find the right type of movie. We both love old classic movies, especially comedies or mysteries. There is something intimate and romantic about spending the evening together at home.

Cuddling on the couch is a lost art for many people. Personally, I love cuddling with Hal and making room for Jax, Willow, and Henry as they wander back and forth during the movie. As long as they stay out of the popcorn, we have no problem. Hal and I gave up on the nightlife scene many years ago, and we haven't missed a thing. Occasionally, we hear from friends who are still out all weekend acting like they were nearly thirty years ago and apparently not recognizing how stupid they look now. That is why we decided years ago to live for ourselves instead of everyone else.

And so, Hal and I spend most evenings on the couch with the lights turned down, watching old movies from the 1930s and 1940s. The plots are corny, and the acting is usually terrible, but we have loads of fun right here at home without the outside world intruding on us for a while. We share our time with each other, which is our most valuable thing. I don't care if people think we are dull. Their opinions are worthless to us anyway.
