Mortality

Hal and I heard from a friend yesterday that he was hospitalized for an elevated heart rate. We haven’t seen him in several years since we left the DC area. It is never good to hear a friend is in bad shape, but his last text said his test results were good and that he was being transferred to another hospital for more extensive tests before he could be discharged.

Mortality claims us all. We get older, and we start falling apart. Eating right, exercising, and getting enough sleep are all great, but they merely delay the inevitable. My own health deteriorated rapidly because stress took its toll without me realizing it.

We’re waiting for more information about our friend, patience is a virtue. Until we know more, we won’t plan an immediate trip back to DC. Hopefully, we will make that trip when our friend is better so we can reminisce without Mortality hanging quite so ominously over our heads.
