10 February 2024
I took this picture. It is my property.

Sometimes, nothing is better than relaxing in bed on a Saturday morning for an hour or four. When it is raining or snowing outside, it feels even more incredible. Today was one of those days for me. We had no plans for the day, so it was an excellent, peaceful start. I wanted to stay in bed all day, but that wasn’t realistic. I got up, showered, and planned how to occupy my time today.

The rain started just before Hal and I were ready to run errands, but the rain delayed things indefinitely. The radar showed lots more rain on the way for the rest of the afternoon, so we waited for a break in the rain, just in case.

Hal decided we should make our break to the grocery store and pet store during a break in the rain. I always enjoy getting out of the apartment, even for a few minutes daily.

We haven’t heard from our friend in the hospital so far today. We hope no news is good, and we don’t want to bother him when he recuperates.

I’ve been looking for a good set of hiking poles to either supplement or replace my cane. I’m afraid that I’ll fall when we’re away from home. I want something sturdy but not expensive. When I started browsing, I noticed that reviews said carbon fiber poles were supposedly better than aluminum. I have my doubts about that because the first thing I thought about was the MV Titan submersible that imploded in the Atlantic Ocean last year. The criminally incompetent piece of fish food who designed the vessel also bragged about the “superiority” of carbon fiber when he built his very sinkable submersible. I’ll stick with aluminum when I make my choice. I don’t plan strenuous hiking, especially in the beginning. I want sturdy poles to support my weight and keep me balanced instead of leaning on one side.

Tomorrow, I’ll be cooking again so we won’t run out of food. We already have all the groceries we need.

I kept a critical promise to myself today. I started this daily story early, so I wasn’t racing to finish anything late into the evening.

Be kind to each other.
