I'm So Over Israel

I'm So Over Israel

I might have an unpopular opinion, but I am so done with Israel over the Hamas war thing. I am tired of the USA always being the heavy in the Middle East chaos. Israel has done everything it can to alienate the rest of the world. Whatever sympathies existed for the victims of the terrible Hamas attacks and the hostages that were taken has mostly vanished under the rubble of Gaza and the plight of the Palestinians there.

Israel set out on a disastrous policy from the very beginning. The goal of eliminating a group is vague and has no set goals that can be measured unless the complete destruction of Gaza was that goal all along. I served in the military, and the one thing that was constantly reinforced was that any military action had to have measurable and achievable goals and objectives. Otherwise, the whole adventure was doomed to failure. Israel has not learned this lesson. Revenge is never a good motive for military action because it creates a never-ending cycle of violence from both sides.

Whenever Israel acts, the USA always supports them unquestioningly. This failed policy is why the Middle East remains a problem for everyone concerned. The USA has lost credibility in the Arab world because of our policies. Supporting Israel does not automatically equate to supporting everything that Israel does.

We are faced with the scenario where Israel is the snotty little brother who goes around picking fights with everyone and then expects Big Brother USA to show up and support them. Sometimes, big brothers must administer common sense to the snot-nosed little brat.

Since Israel depends on so much foreign aid from the USA, I suggest that we severely restrict their allowance until they learn to behave better. It sounds harsh, but our current policy has failed. Sending more weapons to Israel while quietly demanding that they stop the genocide, yes, I said it, in Gaza is hypocritical and disgusting. Tell Israel to put on their big boy pants and fight without our weapons pouring in unrestrained. The USA should restrict the sale of weapons to Israel until they change their current policy. I think that they would become more reasonable.

The Arab world also needs to adjust themselves. Their attitudes must change, and a path to coexistence must be found. Sadly, religion plays a role in this situation, and like religion has a habit of doing, it fucks things up. As long as people and nations, the USA included, let religions dictate their policies, nothing will ever change.

And so, I am over Israel now. They have chosen a ruinous path and show no signs of turning back. I wish they would change, but that is up to them. Until then, they should be on their own.
